Nowadays, most devices by default offer theming options. In most cases, theming is limited to just the home screen icons and wallpapers as well as the lock screen. But today, I’ll be explaining how to theme your entire android (including apps) using the Substratum theme engine.
INTRODUCTION
The Substratum theme engine is an app that allows you to theme virtually your entire android device. It is based on Sony’s Overlay Manager Service(OMS). All you have to do is just to download and install your desired theme(s), then compile overlays, after which you perform a reboot to enable themes.
Kindly take note that before now, substratum only supported theming with root. But currently, it now supports rootless theming with the aid of an additional plugin app called Andromeda. Most devices running android Oreo and above support rootless theming. So I’ll advise you to download the substratum app directly from the play store (link below), to know if your device is supported. Without any further ado, let’s get started!

STEPS:
First off, download all that’s necessary then extract the Andromeda desktop client to your PC.
Download and install Substratum as well as Andromeda
On your pc open the desktop client folder then click 'start Andromeda.' Once the script runs, substratum should now be launched. If it doesn’t open automatically, simply open it manually. If everything works well, you should now see something like in the screenshot below.
Now, you can download your favourite substratum themes from the play store, there are lots of wonderful themes out there as well{some are paid}. But I’ll upload some on my telegram channel from time to time though. Most system apps can be themed but various app theming support all depends on the kind of theme you choose.
After downloading and installing your favourite theme, open substratum and tap on the theme. It should show a list of available overlays that can be applied. After selecting your desired ones, tap on the floating icon then tap on ‘build and enable’. The themes should be enabled after your next reboot. If not, you can enable them from the overlays tab.
PS: You don’t have to run the script on your pc every time you reboot your device. You only need to run the script when you need to perform operations within the substratum app. And besides, themes are not disabled every time you reboot. So, if you know you want to stick to your current theme configuration for a long time, then you’d only need to run the script the next time you need to compile new overlays. That’s all!
